The holiday season descended upon us here at The Aged Woman’s Home of Georgetown on the second Tuesday in December, when several elves (aka members of the Town and Country Garden Club) completed their annual holiday decorating of the Home.
As they have done since 1958, they toiled on stairs and ladders, made bows, and hung beautifully adorned garlands on mantles, cabinets, and tables, all while chatting amongst themselves as elves are wont to do. They were a bit mischievous leading up to their arrival, keeping their decorating plans secret, but soon their fine handiwork was revealed. By the time they left, after a delicious lunch, there was no question these elves had made us ready for the season’s celebrations. We love our two gorgeous centerpieces and all the decorations, inside and out.
It was not long before two more elves arrived at the Home—James and Lucy Cannon, representing the Women of Christ Church. Long-time neighbors and supporters of the Home, the Women of Christ Church annually provide beautifully appointed Christmas baskets for our Guests. This year’s baskets once again put big holiday smiles on everyone’s faces.
During the holiday season we especially appreciate our elves, and all of you who support the Home in its mission to provide housing at no charge to independent senior women of limited economic means. We wish you the happiest of holidays.
